Makeup is something that we usually start our day with– sometimes even before we brush our teeth in the morning! The products that you may be using could be hazardous to your health and you might want to be careful about what exactly you are putting on your face. Some products mention that they are 100% natural but when you look at the ingredients closely, you will find that their claims fall flat. Some of the chemicals used in makeup have been linked to life altering diseases such as cancer, immune dysfunction and even depression.

One chemical to be on the look out for is one from the Phthatale Family. This chemical is used to make plastic supple and can be found in nail polish, lotions, hair-straightening products. The application of this ingredient can cause you reproductive related problems with decrease of sperm count, testicular injury, and early development of breast or even lung, liver, or kidney cancer.

Formaldehyde is used to increase the shelf life of cosmetics. This element is used in a host of products be it your toiletries, mascara, mouth wash, make up removers or even talcum powder. Joint and chest pain could be a side effect other than the fact that it is a carcinogen and can cause fatigue, dizziness, depression, and weaken your immune system not to mention triggering some allergies as well.

Amine is used in shaving creams, powders, hairsprays, and hair coloring products. Used on a long term basis these can again trigger cancer in the liver or kidney. They can damage your eyes or skin.

Lauryl Sulfate is mostly used in bathing products such as gels, shampoo, toothpaste and bath salt. The danger of this chemical is that it is carcinogenic which damages your liver or kidney. It can cause skin problems and also nervous system disorders.

Select your beauty products cautiously from a certified organic cosmetic manufacturer and do away with the risk of using makeup with hazardous chemicals.

If you missed my last months review I can confirm that the Tria is now approved for laser hair removal in the uk. Now at a slightly reduced price.

One of the greatest weaknesses of every woman is branded beauty cosmetic products. If you really want to make your lady happy then just offer her some of the best beauty products and see the magic yourself. Beauty products are one kind of a secret remedy which can hide all sorts of flaws on the face. If you are not completely satisfied with your natural beauty and want to hide imperfections then cosmetic products are the best possible options for you. People who cannot afford a cosmetic surgery procedures such as Dermal fillers or a Hair Transplant can easily take the help of cosmetic products in order to enhance their beauty.

But, here the most important factor is choosing the right product for yourself. Everyday in the market you will see a lot of new and upcoming products, but not all of them are worth trying. Your skin is very valuable and sensitive. Applying all sorts of cosmetics, that too from different brands, can have a very negative impact upon the skin. You may tend to adopt all sorts of different ways in order to make your skin look healthy and beautiful and in a short time. However, if you really don’t want to ruin your skin then you must pay attention while choosing your beauty products.

Before getting any beauty product you must be well aware of your skin type and accordingly choose a product. Sticking to one brand is always good for your skin rather than trying out every new product in the market. And, before you buy any product you must try a sensitivity test, that is just apply the product on your palm and check whether its suits you or not.

Another very important factor of a beauty product is that you must choose it according to your skin tone. If you really want to enhance your beauty with cosmetic products then you must use those products that suit your skin tone, otherwise it might enhance the flaws. After a day out do not forget to remove your make up at night, as these cosmetic products can ruin your skin if they stay overnight.

Make up is an essential part of a woman’s life. Like clothes, make up is believed to possess healing properties that can not only enhance the physical appearance of a person but also emotional appearance. A person who looks good also feels good. Make up helps in accentuating one’s features and hiding the flaws. It also comes to your rescue when an untimely zit appears on your face. We rely so much on makeup products, but have we ever given a thought to what goes into the making of these products? Makeup products are filled with chemicals but this shouldn’t be a reason to worry since most of the contents need approval from the industry. Make up products once contained animal by-products but their use is not allowed anymore. The makeup products can also not be tested on animals. The latest fad to hit the market is mineral makeup. Minerals make up products are Eco friendly and do not contain any sort of chemicals. They are slowly replacing the good old cosmetics and will very soon gain a strong foothold in the cosmetic industry. Until then let’s a take a look at the contents of some makeup products in order to enlighten our minds:

Lipstick: Lipsticks contain oil, wax, dye, alcohol and pigment. The contents are all mixed together and poured into a mold. After the residue is cooled, the lipstick is sent for packaging.

Mascara: A lot of companies put tar and coal in mascara, which is a prohibited chemical in most countries. Another alternative to this is carbon black and iron oxides for other colours. Other ingredients that go into the mascara are the same as lipstick such as wax, oils. Mascaras go through a stringent check before they are sent into the market as they involve eyes. Perfumes are also added to most of the cosmetic products.

Foundation is a vital part of wearing makeup and a lot of people go wrong while selecting their foundation. The colour is either too dark or too light for their skin. The only trick for buying the right foundation is to select one that matches exactly with your skin tone.

Foundation, as the name suggests provides the necessary base for applying makeup. If the base is not right, everything else can easily go wrong. Thus, we provide you tips on the basics of buying and wearing foundation.

How to buy the right colour?

Apply a small dot of foundation on your chin. If it blends well and is almost invisible then this is the right colour for you. It can take a lot of time to find the right foundation, thus it is necessary that you display patience while shopping for a foundation.

You can select a foundation from the different types available in the market such as cream, liquid and powder. Cream foundation can be used on dry and normal skins. Liquid foundation can be used on normal, dry or combination skins and powder foundation can be used on oily and combination skin.

How to wear foundation?

Once you have selected the right foundation for your skin, it is important to learn the process of wearing foundation in the correct way. It is absolutely essential that you moisturise your face before applying foundation because dry skin can give patchy results. If the foundation is very thick in consistency you can also mix it with a little amount of moisturiser to get the desired texture. Remember that foundation should never be used as an “acne treatment"and putting make-up on may make skin problems worse.

Once the right consistency is obtained you can apply little dots of the product on your face. Remember to always start with less because you can always add more foundation if the coverage is not enough. Once this is done, you can blend the product with your fingers or a soft sponge. The foundation can be sealed with loose powder.

Lipstick is one thing which you will find in the purse of almost all fashion savvy girls and ladies. They won’t step out of their houses without putting on decent makeup which includes a good lip shade. However, a good lipstick with properties like being water retardant, giving a glossy look etc would cost a good deal. The high price of cosmetics like lipsticks is because of many reasons like advertising cost, publicity campaigns and not to forget the research involved. If you are one of those who think twice before purchasing a lipstick, there is good news–you can make your own lipstick!

The preparation process is very simple, and strap on your mizuno running shoes to run out to the store and get the things you need, that are readily available. Just make sure you follow the steps accordingly.

Take a small pan and heat 2.8 oz of castor oil. Prepare a small mixture of powdered mica, iron oxide and the required quantity of C and D pigment to get the desired shade of color. Add a bit of white mica to give a hint of frost effect.

Heat the ingredients under low heat and crush into a powdered form before transferring it into a different vessel. Add a few pearls of bee wax to it and mix it thoroughly by constant stirring. Add 0.6oz of carnauba wax while stirring. After that add some amounts of Vitamin E and lanolin, before raising the temperature, to aid the melting. Make sure to raise the temperature above 160 degrees with constant monitoring of the same.

Remove the preparation from the flame and add some drops of grapefruit extract and a flavor of your choice to give a distinct aroma. Mix properly and stir well. Before the preparation hardens, make sure to put the entire mixture into some tube, preferably empty lipstick tubes to give it a proper usable shape.

So, have a gala time making your own lipstick, but don’t forget to pass on the message to your dear ones so that they too can give it a try.

Phthalates are a type of acid, used to loosen up and soften various products. If you take prescription medicines, use lubricants, or paint, then you may just have had a run in with phthalates and don’t even know it. One of the more popular uses for phthalates is in cosmetics.

Now the question that we need to ask ourselves is, are they safe? Well if it tells you anything, they are already being taken out of many products on the market due to various health concerns. So is it any safer to keep them in cosmetics? Long story short, no. It has been linked to many disorders and one of those is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Obesity! Yes, phthalates has been linked to obesity although the evidence is very loose, it’s still out there. But before we get into the health concerns, let’s talk a bit more about the products that they are thrown in.

In my eyes, anything that is an agent used in plastic should not be directly applied to a person’s skin, which is the arguement that I have been making against botox for years. It has no written all over it. Would you want to put melted rubber on your face just because it looks good, or drink radiation because it makes your breathe smell good? Some people would, but you’d have to be insane to do so. Phthalates are no better.

For hundreds of years, tribes have found natural means of making their own unique cosmetics and I think it’s time we do the same, without the use of all these unhealthy agents, phthalates being one of them. In one other study, exposure to phthalates resulted in damage to the liver and testes. In yet another study, phthalates were linked to allergies in children.

We need to get rid of this, and get rid of it fast. We have other natural cognents at our disposal, and it’s time to use them. Better safe, than sorry!

Eye make up is the most convenient way to brighten up one’s face in an instant. It can also be used for concealing those tired eyes caused due to lack of sleep or fatigue. The right application of the right products can successfully disguise dark circles, and when done correctly can be deceptively anti aging. The easiest way to do this is to apply some under eye concealer, which should be one shade darker than your skin tone. Dab this area with some loose powder.

Splash your eyes with a hint of color to lend a pretty touch to your face. Eyes shadows can be used to enhance the shape of the eyes. Dark colors such as black and brown are worn during the night to create a dramatic effect. During the day it is considered best to stick to light colors. It is a myth that the color of the eye shadow needs to match with that of the outfit, but using too many colors at once can produce a garish effect. However, one should not shy away from experimenting. Women with oily skin should opt for powder eye shadows while women with dry skin should wear cream eye shadows. One can also use kohl pencil to highlight the shape of the eyes. Apply it close to the upper and lower eye lashes and cover the entire eye to lend a bold effect.

Those with scanty eye lashes should use mascara. Mascara always helps in adding volume to the eyes and produces a mesmerizing effect. It goes without saying that eyebrows need to be neatly shaped according to the shape of the face. Keep your tweezers handy always and consult a beautician to determine the best shape. Always remember to use water proof eye products and wash off your eye make up gently with make up remover before going off to bed.

Millions of women all over the world put on make-up every day. They do it without a second thought as to what they are actually putting on their skin. As long as they look like the media versions of beautiful then women try to push the thoughts of the chemicals that are going on their skin. Most women are concerned about the rising facelift prices, or the chemicals going into skin through botox. And will use make-up as an alternative to cosmetic procedures because they think at the end of the day, it is healthier for their skin.

The question is: do we truly know or want to know what goes into making us more beautiful? Here’s six unusual products found in make-up.

These ingredients include such things as:

Ÿ Hydrogenated vegetable oil, yes, the stuff you bake and grease cake pans with is used as a moisturizer and barrier against outside elements

Ÿ Propylene glycol, not the stuff you find in anti-freeze, that’s ethylene glycol. This version is used as a moisturizer but it is also used on the wings of airplanes as a de-icing mechanism. It prevents ice from building up on the wings.

Ÿ A chemical known as Urea which was originally an extract from horse urine. It is utilized to keep moisture in the skin. It is also used as an ingredient in many household cleaners.

Ÿ Simethicone is the same ingredient as those gas drops for infants. It effectively does the same thing in cosmetics. It helps to decrease the amount of air bubbles in the product.

Ÿ Plastics are for more than just the packaging. They are inside the products that need to keep your hair in place and keep that mascara from turning you into a raccoon when you cry. Oh and it’s part of those liquid bandages that you use on those cuts.

Ÿ Egg whites are in that facial mask that you put on your face last night. You know, the one that you peel off in strips that makes your skin feel so smooth? Yes, it will make you look at breakfast in a whole new light.

Every day there are women who complain about lines and wrinkles, age spots, and unwanted hair growth. They don’t think about the fact that they are putting tons of harmful chemicals on their face every day. This may be a major cause for many of the blemishes they see. Make up contains many different chemicals in each individual product and each chemical can individually be causing damage.

On an average day a woman coats her face with make up. The layers upon layers are caked on in a routine that is to the point of being a daily ritual. They put on foundation, blush, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, lip liner, lipstick, and powder. That is a lot of stuff to put on some of the most delicate and sensitive skin on your body.

Lipstick alone contains many chemicals. Lipstick contains many different kinds of wax in one tube. Each has oils and pigment to give it it’s color and texture. Powders, eye shadow, and blushes all contain different ingredients but, many contain perfumes to give them the smell that they have. You would never spray perfume on your cheeks yet everyday women put perfume containing products on their face contributing to break outs and age spots.

If you can go without wearing make up you should as much as possible. Make sure whether you are wearing make up or not that you wear sun block. Sun block will protect your skin from the rays of the sun and help to decrease the appearance of age spots and wrinkles and decrease your chances of getting skin cancer. Don’t be fooled by all of the organic hype in the cosmetic industry. Make sure to do your homework before putting anything on your face. You only get one face and you need to make sure to take care of it to the best of your ability.
