Make your own lipstick

Lipstick is one thing which you will find in the purse of almost all fashion savvy girls and ladies. They won’t step out of their houses without putting on decent makeup which includes a good lip shade. However, a good lipstick with properties like being water retardant, giving a glossy look etc would cost a good deal. The high price of cosmetics like lipsticks is because of many reasons like advertising cost, publicity campaigns and not to forget the research involved. If you are one of those who think twice before purchasing a lipstick, there is good news–you can make your own lipstick!

The preparation process is very simple, and strap on your mizuno running shoes to run out to the store and get the things you need, that are readily available. Just make sure you follow the steps accordingly.

Take a small pan and heat 2.8 oz of castor oil. Prepare a small mixture of powdered mica, iron oxide and the required quantity of C and D pigment to get the desired shade of color. Add a bit of white mica to give a hint of frost effect.

Heat the ingredients under low heat and crush into a powdered form before transferring it into a different vessel. Add a few pearls of bee wax to it and mix it thoroughly by constant stirring. Add 0.6oz of carnauba wax while stirring. After that add some amounts of Vitamin E and lanolin, before raising the temperature, to aid the melting. Make sure to raise the temperature above 160 degrees with constant monitoring of the same.

Remove the preparation from the flame and add some drops of grapefruit extract and a flavor of your choice to give a distinct aroma. Mix properly and stir well. Before the preparation hardens, make sure to put the entire mixture into some tube, preferably empty lipstick tubes to give it a proper usable shape.

So, have a gala time making your own lipstick, but don’t forget to pass on the message to your dear ones so that they too can give it a try.
